POPE FRANCIS: Careerists and climbers doing “great harm” to the Church

20130514-101842.jpg

Vatican City, 8 May 2013 (VIS) – “The men and women of the Church who are careerists and social climbers, who ‘use’ people, the Church, their brothers and sisters—whom they should be serving—as a springboard for their own personal interests and ambitions … are doing great harm to the Church.” This is what Pope Francis asserted in his address to the participants in the plenary assembly of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) whom he received in audience this morning.

The pontiff spoke to the sisters of obedience, poverty, and chastity: “Obedience as listening to God’s will, in the interior motion of the Holy Spirit authenticated by the Church, accepting that obedience also passes through human mediations. … Poverty, which teaches solidarity, sharing, and charity and which is also expressed in a soberness and joy of the essential, to put us on guard against the material idols that obscure the true meaning of life. Poverty, which is learned with the humble, the poor, the sick, and all those who are at the existential margins of life. Theoretical poverty doesn’t do anything. Poverty is learned by touching the flesh of the poor Christ in the humble, the poor, the sick, and in children.”

“And then chastity, as a precious charism, that enlarges the freedom of your gift to God and others with Christ’s tenderness, mercy, and closeness. Chastity for the Kingdom of Heaven shows how affection has its place in mature freedom and becomes a sign of the future world, to make God’s primacy shine forever. But, please, [make it] a ‘fertile’ chastity, which generates spiritual children in the Church. The consecrated are mothers: they must be mothers and not ‘spinsters!’

Forgive me if I talk like this but this maternity of consecrated life, this fruitfulness is important! May this joy of spiritual fruitfulness animate your existence. Be mothers, like the images of the Mother Mary and the Mother Church. You cannot understand Mary without her motherhood; you cannot understand the Church without her motherhood, and you are icons of Mary and of the Church.”

Continuing, Pope Francis spoke to the superiors about service. “We must never forget that true power, at whatever level, is service, which has its bright summit upon the Cross. … ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them … But it shall not be so among you.’—This is precisely the motto of your assembly, isn’t it? It shall not be so among you.—’Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave’.”

“Your vocation is a fundamental charism for the Church’s journey and it isn’t possible that a consecrated woman or man might ‘feel’ themselves not to be with the Church. A ‘feeling’ with the Church that has generated us in Baptism; a ‘feeling’ with the Church that finds its filial expression in fidelity to the Magisterium, in communion with the Bishops and the Successor of Peter, the Bishop of Rome, a visible sign of that unity,” the pontiff added, citing Paul VI: “It is an absurd dichotomy to think of living with Jesus but without the Church, of following Jesus outside of the Church, of loving Jesus without loving the Church. Feel the responsibility that you have of caring for the formation of your Institutes in sound Church doctrine, in love of the Church, and in an ecclesial spirit.”

“The centrality of Christ and his Gospel, authority as a service of love, and ‘feeling’ in and with the Mother Church: [these are] three suggestions that I wish to leave you, to which I again add my gratitude for your work, which is not always easy. What would the Church be without you? She would be missing maternity, affection, tenderness! A Mother’s intuition.”

Obama and Chinchilla of Costa Rica’s Joint Press Conference

Read President Obama and President Chinchilla’s Speeches here: Remarks by President Obama and President Chinchilla of Costa Rica in a Joint Press Conference

My Two Cents Worth

Makes you want to “throw up” doesn’t it? Slobbering love fest of two very stupid and liberal Presidents of the United States and Costa Rica.

God bless the United Nations NGO’s for the inroads of help Costa Rica get richer in money but poorer in “Family Values” with their Sex Education Clinics that Peddle Contraceptives, Condoms and encourages their high-in-demand sex trade in their Legal Prostitution Country that even boasts of Sex Trade Unions so that the Prostitutes are supposedly “guaranteed” to be disease free.

Shows to me, that United Nations and Obama and the US Ambassador to Costa Rica have a Liberal Agenda – for Costa Rica; to undermine further the influence of the Pope and their Catholic Cardinals.

The fact President Chinchilla is allowing Sex Education to be taught to children by these strangers, and not their local churches and parents – shows to the world that Costa Rica is in a hurry to go the Way the USA is going – towards Hell, everyday, from letting IDIOTS in Schools teach our kids “How to Violate their Catholic Faith.”

Just remember Costa Ricans: Catholics are Number 10 on Obama’s List of Terrorists in the new US Army Manual.

Are you envious of The United States of America’s declination in Morals? Years from now, when your lives and your marriages and your families fall apart, you will recall what I wrote today.

You will weep, from having been duped into thinking this is prosperity. It is not progress. It is regress.

Listen to the Pope.

Listen to your braver, conservative Bishops. Do not listen to those Bishops who make deals with the devil and mental gymnastics, to explain away the Roman Catholic Faith.

Just look at this video: Obama accused of Gay Sex, Drugs and Murder – By Larry Sinclair

Dear Costa Rica:

You are dealing with a US President who will use you and abuse you and when you don’t hop to his pied piper tune, he will invade you, and do a regime change like he is doing in Syria. *If I was a Costa Rican, I would not listen to nor believe his sugar-coated lies.

Obama has the reputation for the US Massacres, which are “False Flags.” Obama has a reputation of Foreign Regime changes, for allowing the US Military to be ruled, by NATO; no longer by the US Congress.

Obama in the past has engaged, in Gay-Sex, Drugs, in the past. And, Obama has been suspected, in the deaths of his gay lovers, political opponents, and our US Ambassador to Libya, and the Navy Seals who died defending him.

If you want to trust the US President Obama – go ahead. But don’t say, I didn’t warn you. If you met the US President – big deal! Pray for his conversion. God is not happy with Obama. So, don’t be fooled by Obama’s Lies, and Empty Promises!

Listen to your gut! Listen to The Pope. And, listen to your conservative Clergy.

Blessed Pope John Paul II said, “The family is the basic unit of society. As the family goes, so goes the nation.”

Costa Rican Bishops Outraged Over New ‘Hedonistic’ Sexual Education Curriculum

There is a brewing controversy in the schools of Costa Rica over some of the proposed changes to the school curriculum, specifically dealing with sexual education.
In a recent statement the Bishops of Costa Rica denounced and heavily criticized a new sexual education curriculum that was recently approved by the Costa Rican government. They claimed that the new school curriculum promotes a “hedonistic” and ideological view of sexuality that is biased and morally insufficient.
The statement, published on Aug. 27, states that the material provided to the children from the school promotes and insists on highlighting gender neutrality while also pushing and advocating for sexual deviancy.
The bishops say that the materials are “so repetitive that … it’s more about propaganda than education,” according to the statement.
The new additions to the school curriculum are scheduled to take effect in the 2013 school year. Local religious leaders say that the proposed sexual education program does not provide a comprehensive view of such material, given that it does not include the religious attitudes or beliefs of students and parents.

 Brothers and Sisters, good evening.

You all know that the duty of the Conclave was to give a bishop to Rome. It seems that my brother Cardinals have come almost to the ends of the earth to get him… but here we are. I thank you for the welcome that has come from the diocesan community of Rome.
First of all I would say a prayer pray for our Bishop Emeritus Benedict XVI.. Let us all pray together for him, that the Lord bless him and Our Lady protect him.

Our Father…
Hail Mary…
Glory to the Father…

And now let us begin this journey, the Bishop and people, this journey of the Church of Rome which presides in charity over all the Churches, a journey of brotherhood in love, of mutual trust. Let us always pray for one another. Let us pray for the whole world that there might be a great sense of brotherhood . My hope is that this journey of the Church that we begin today, together with help of my Cardinal Vicar, be fruitful for the evangelization of this beautiful city.

And now I would like to give the blessing, but first I want to ask you a favour. Before the bishop blesses the people I ask that you would pray to the Lord to bless me – the prayer of the people for their Bishop. Let us say this prayer – your prayer for me – in silence.

[The ProtoDeacon announced that all those who received the blessing, either in person or by radio, television or by the new means of communication receive the plenary indulgence in the form established by the Church. He prayed that Almighty God protect and guard the Pope so that he may lead the Church for many years to come, and that he would grant peace to the Church throughout the world.]

[Immediately afterwards Pope Francis gave his first blessing "Urbi et Orbi" – To the City and to the World.]
I will now give my blessing to you and to the whole world, to all men and women of good will.

Brothers and sisters, I am leaving you. Thank you for your welcome. Pray for me and I will be with you again soon.
We will see one another soon.

Tomorrow I want to go to pray to the Madonna, that she may protect Rome.
Good night and sleep well!

Honduran Cardinal Reflects On Challenges Facing Today’s Church

20130301-195708.jpg

(Vatican Radio) Cardinals from around the world are making their way to Rome in anticipation of the upcoming conclave, during which the successor of His Holiness, Benedict XVI, Pope Emeritus, will be elected. Among them is Cardinal Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga, the archbishop of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and president of Caritas Internationalis.

Speaking with Emer McCarthy, the cardinal emphasized how, before beginning to discern who the right successor of the See of Peter should be, it is vital to first understand the challenges facing the Church at this time.

“We are in the year of faith,” Cardinal Maradiaga said, “and it is necessary to think about how can we continue the essential mission of the Church.”

“Pope Paul VI used to say, the Church exists to evangelize. This is our mission.”

The Latin American prelate cited materialism as being a central obstacle in spreading the Gospel.

“God has been displaced by materialism, and the Church exists to announce God and His loving care of the world. This is our main challenge.”

When asked about the role of prayer in the discernment process, Cardinal Maradiaga said:

“I think the Holy Spirit will be present. It will be my second Conclave, and I hope it will be the last! Because it’s not easy to say ‘farewell!’ to our dear pope.”

FAREWELL ADDRESS OF HIS HOLINESS BENEDICT XVI
To the Cardinals GENTLEMEN THESE CARDINALS IN ROME

Venerable and dear Brothers!

With great joy I welcome you and offer each of you my most cordial greeting. I thank Cardinal Angelo Sodano, who as always, has been able to convey the sentiments of the Board: Cor ad cor loquitur. Thanks Eminence heart. And I would say – taking the reference to the experience of the disciples of Emmaus – that for me it was a joy to walk with you in recent years, in light of the presence of the Risen Lord.

As I said yesterday before the thousands of faithful who filled St. Peter’s Square, your neighborhood and your advice I have been a big help in my ministry. In the past eight years, we lived with faith beautiful moments of radiant light in the path of the Church, along with times when a few clouds in the sky has thickened. We tried to serve Christ and his Church with deep love and total, which is the soul of our ministry. We have given hope that comes from Christ, who alone can light the way. Together we can thank the Lord that made us grow in communion, and pray together to help you grow in this profound unity, so that the College of Cardinals is like an orchestra, where differences – an expression of the universal Church – always contribute to the greater harmony and concord.

I would like to leave you a simple thought, which is close to my heart: a thought on the Church, its mystery, which is for all of us – we can say – the reason and the passion of life. Let me help by an expression of Romano Guardini, written in the year in which the Fathers of the Second Vatican Council approve the Constitution Lumen Gentium, in his latest book, with a personal dedication for me, because the words of this book, I are particularly expensive. Guardini says: The Church “is not an institution devised and built in table … but a living reality … It lives along the course of time, become, like any living being, becoming … Yet in its nature remains the same, and his heart is Christ. ” It ‘has been our experience yesterday, I think, in the square: see that the Church is a living body, animated by the Holy Spirit and truly lives by the power of God, it is in the world, but not of the world is God’s , of Christ, of the Spirit. We saw it yesterday. This is true and eloquent expression of the other famous Guardini: “The Church is awakening souls.” The Church lives, grows and awakens in the soul, which – like the Virgin Mary – accept the Word of God and conceive by the power of the Holy Spirit; offer to God their flesh and in their own poverty and humility, they become capable of birth to Christ in the world today. Through the Church, the mystery of the Incarnation remains present forever. Christ continues to walk through the times and all places.

Let us remain united, dear brothers, in this mystery: in prayer, especially the Eucharist daily, and so serve the Church and all humanity. This is our joy, that no one can take away.

Prior to greet you personally, I want to tell you that I will continue to be close with prayer, especially in the next few days so that you are fully docile to the action of the Holy Spirit in the election of the new Pope May the Lord show you what is willed by Him And by you, including the College of Cardinals, there is also the future Pope which already promise my unconditional reverence and obedience. Therefore, with affection and gratitude, I cordially impart my Apostolic Blessing.

Benedict XVI: “I am not abandoning the Church.”

“At the end of his Angelus reflection this Sunday, Pope Benedict told pilgrims “Dear brothers and sisters…The Lord is calling me to “climb the mountain”, to devote myself even more to prayer and meditation. But this does not mean abandoning the Church, indeed, if God is asking me to do this, it is so I can continue to serve the Church with the same dedication and the same love with which I have done thus far, but in a way that is better suited to my age and my strength”. “We will always be close in prayer!”. Let us invoke the intercession of the Virgin Mary: may she always help us all to follow the Lord Jesus in prayer and works of charity”.
