Bishop Tobin’s Pastoral Letter to Catholics Regarding the Passage of Same-Sex Marriage

As the Rhode Island General Assembly prepares to pass “same-sex marriage” legislation and the Governor scheduled to sign the bill this afternoon, Bishop Tobin offers the following pastoral letter to Catholics in Rhode Island. The contents of this letter will be printed in the May 9, 2013 edition of Rhode Island Catholic Newspaper.

My dear Brothers and Sisters,
Since the legislative approval of “same-sex marriage” in Rhode Island, a number of people have requested that I offer some guidance on this development. It is for that purpose that I write at this time. In particular I wish to invite members of the Catholic Church in Rhode Island to a moment of prayer and reflection as we respond to this new challenge of the post-Christian era into which, clearly, we have now entered.

First, like many others, I am profoundly disappointed that Rhode Island has approved legislation that seeks to legitimize “same-sex marriage.” The Catholic Church has fought very hard to oppose this immoral and unnecessary proposition, and we are most grateful to all those who have courageously joined us in this effort. When all is said and done, however, we know that God will be the final judge of our actions.
As I have emphasized consistently in the past, the Catholic Church has respect, love and pastoral concern for our brothers and sisters who have same-sex attraction. I sincerely pray for God’s blessings upon them, that they will enjoy much health, happiness and peace. We also offer our prayerful support to families, especially parents, who often struggle with this issue when it occurs in their own homes.

Our respect and pastoral care, however, does not mean that we are free to endorse or ignore immoral or destructive behavior, whenever or however it occurs. Indeed, as St. Paul urges us, we are required to “speak the truth in love.” (Eph 4:15)
At this moment of cultural change, it is important to affirm the teaching of the Church, based on God’s word, that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered,” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2357) and always sinful. And because “same-sex marriages” are clearly contrary to God’s plan for the human family, and therefore objectively sinful,

Catholics should examine their consciences very carefully before deciding whether or not to endorse same-sex relationships or attend same-sex ceremonies, realizing that to do so might harm their relationship with God and cause significant scandal to others.
Despite this serious regression in the public morality of our state we need to recognize that there are other major issues that demand our attention.

We must continue to engage our culture, remembering that Jesus called us to be “the salt of the earth and the light of the world.” (Mt 5:13-14) Be assured, therefore, that the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Providence will continue its mission of preaching the Gospel, advocating for what is right and just, and serving the needs of our community to the very best of our ability.

Without a doubt this is a time of challenge, even disappointment for many of us, but it is also an opportunity to be steadfast and courageous, and to renew our commitment to Christ and His Church. As our Lord Jesus Christ told us, “In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” (Jn 16:33)

Dear brothers and sisters, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary, may God be with you as you continue your journey of faith, and may He bless you and your families with His finest gifts, now and always.
What do you think of the passage of “same-sex marriage” in Rhode Island?

Now Here’s My Two Cents Worth

Jesus, Mercy! This subject is not up for compromise. This is the weakest, nambi-pambi apologizing for being CATHOLIC Faux Pastoral Letter of a Bishop – that I’ve ever read in my whole entire life!

Bishop! You are the sorriest excuse of a bishop I’ve had the unfortunate experience to read about.

Might” was a word never given by GOD.

In His Sixth Commandment God said, “Thou shalt not commit adultery (whereby all acts of sexual sins were included).

In His Ninth Commsndment God said, “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife.”

God Commands “Obedience” from us all. He doesn’t ask us, with nambi-pambi words like “might.”

Dear +Thomas J. Tobin
Bishop of Providence

Get thee to a Confessional, and Confess this “Dangerous Timidity!”

You are leaving the door wide open for your sheep and lambs to leave God and the Catholic Faith; when you tell your flock, that they “might” be offending God by attending a Gay Marriage.

In fact, they would be offending God, seriously.

Shame on you!

If it weren’t for Catholics – there’d be more Catholics!

A bishop, priest or nun who is not in union with the Pope, on Faith and Morals, is not to be followed “hook, line and sinker.” I’m not that kind of fish!

At a local STD Clinic 12 Year Old Kids get whole boxes of condoms, at old Madonna Hall – which is housed in buildings leased by Religious Sisters, to an affiliation of the Health and Human Services Department.

This STD Clinic:

*Without parental consent: a 12 year old can get a whole box of condoms, at this STD Clinic.

* Contingent on being accompanied by an adult who is 18 years old or older, with dubious credentials.

(1). Green Card
(2). Proof the Adult is from a State Prison. :’(
(3). Driver’s License
(4). State ID Card
(5). Proof the 18 Year Old is in School

What NONSENSE! Greater Good MY FOOT!

Public Scandal are sins committed against kids, by adults. Jesus had a particular hatred of this sin. Read Matthew’s Gospel, chapter 18.

My Bishop and Nuncio cannot claim ignorance, for they have known about this situation, since 2012.

Those kids shouldn’t have an STD at age 12.

An adult or peer is using them for sex.
That is evil.

Those kids will be messed up all their lives. Pray for them.

April 2013 – the Papal Prayer Intentions is for Kids who are Abused, to be protected by society — NOT EXPLOITED!

Folks are unworthy of the title “Catholic” by their own omissions. They will answer to God for allowing this unholy union with the Dept. of HHS.

God bless all those responsible with more sense than they have now. God bless them with fruits befitting repentance. God bless those kids and adults using them, with graces to see their way out of these sins. A lot to pray for. I’ll just trust it all to Christ, and do my part to put an end to it.

I always say, “If it weren’t for Catholics, there would be more Catholics!”

When a society and individual Catholics do not live their lives in the Holy Spirit; then, they do the works of Satan; not God!

Well Bless Their Hearts! Obama’s Army Calls Catholics “Extremists!”

Catholics Made Obama’s “Top 10 List of ‘Religious Extremists!’”

Well, bless their little Bernie Bees! Sort of makes ya feel a might proud, to be so distinguishably singled out to be called a “Religious Extremist” if you’re a Roman Catholic who adhere’s to the faith, and won’t roll-over and play dead, for Obama’s Pro-Abortion, and Pro-Gay Marriage.

Shucks! Here I just thought that I was just “ordinary.” Nope! Guess not. Not in Obama’s book. Well, the feeling’s mutual Mister, I assure you! You’re a Religious Bigot!

It don’t look like my prayers, for him are doing any good. But, I’m still going to trust God and keep praying for him, his family and his Administration. What’s a Catholic to do? Best not be teaching my family their Anti-Catholic Indoctrination. Then, you will have one grouchy momma on your hands! Just saying!

Saintly vs Crabby Catholics

20130119-204442.jpg

A woman from Church gave me a ride home, from Mass. “Jesus, Mary and St Joseph, I love you: save her and her family’s souls.

God sends those who will lighten your load, usually when others add to the weight of your cross, with foolishness that is not befitting a Catholic. GOD is so good to me. I can offer that up for their salvation, too.

I posted Sunday’s Mass Readings, on this blog while I was waiting for Mass to start. The choir director couldn’t wait to tell me to turn off my phone: as if I was conversing, with anyone but GOD. What foolishness to be so sure I was wrong and she owned the Church Christ founded. What a hateful woman. The priest has my permission to publish my annulment process in the bulletin. I duly noted his foolish jab, as well. What a way for two Catholics to act at the summit of Christ’s Eternal Wedding Feast – feeding off each other’s Act of Hate!

What nonsense! I was going to shake the Deacon’s hand, because everyone else did it. He recoiled in disdain.

I guess they are all set to meet GOD, tonight. Since, by comparison they are to have their holiness felt: as an example, to me. When pigs fly! I cannot. I will not follow such folly.

However, I did have an unkind thought and told God, “she saw me happy, yet she seems to have a problem being nice, instead she acts like a bitch.”

Then, GOD’s Mother and St Joseph worked on me, to apologize to Jesus, for calling her a bitch, in my head. He assured me, that if I was truly sorry, that sin would be washed away, by His Blood at Holy Communion. I asked Jesus, to help me to love this lady, the priest and the holier than thou, deacon. I got a mixed bag of them, tonight at Mass. So, I offer that Mass for their salvation and mine. I prayed that I would be able to love and forgive them all. Seems, when it rains, it pours.

I guess that’s why GOD inspired a woman I know from St Joseph’s School, to take me home. I told her I was going to Meijer’s, and she was kind enough to take me there and then home. I told her she could download several songs, from my other website, for taking me.

I guess GOD does save the best wine, for last. He sure did tonight.

I learned tonight, that I do not have patience with others, nor love. I had to take that to God; because he loves them too, and will forgive them, when they’re sorry, too. Perhaps, they are too busy examining my conscience, to check their own attitudes, first. After all: only GOD is the “Judge of the Living and the Dead.” Not them or anyone else.

Catholics can habitually be good or habitually be evil. They can try to ruin your evening – but GOD goes out of HIS WAY – to brighten your evening – with a genuine Catholic’s unselfishness and act of kindness that goes along way, to undo the damage of careless Catholics.

Christian Unity and Nonviolence begins with them. If they pray for it, but act contrary to it – it’s a bit hard to take their prayers seriously. Trap setting is just plain sinful! Three traps in one hour was a lot to endure.

There was a dear old man who kept giving me cough drops. And, a dear school chum who drove me home, so I thank God for their love and I thank God for the other 3 Catholics cross-ridings, at Mass, and after.

It was a weird way for them to “kick off Christian Unity Week.” And, their intrusions were not welcomed. But, I will pray for those 3 Crabby Catholics.

“JESUS, Mary and St Joseph – I love you – save their souls and that of their family’s. Thank you. Amen.”

LAMBDA CATHOLICS can get Married at St Tom’s in Kalamazoo – Since June 2009

http://www.lambdacatholics.org/#2667

MISSION STATEMENT

Lambda Catholics is an inclusive and ecumenical gay and lesbian organization. While we are endorsed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kalamazoo , we also welcome others who seek spiritual support in the Catholic tradition. We are affiliated with the Catholic Association for Lesbian and Gay Ministry (CALGM) .

We exist to provide spiritual ministry with gay and lesbian persons, in keeping with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ document “Always Our Children” and Catholic social justice teachings.

Our ministerial work is done with the full knowledge and endorsement of the Pastoral Team of St. Thomas More and the Bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo.

LAMBDA CATHOLICS sounds official. Yet, I do not see it listed as a real official ministry on the USCCB website.

Given that I saw in St Tom’s bulletin in late May or early June 2009, that Obama allowed GAY MARRIAGES the priest said, contact me, if you wish to marry. And, when I tweeted on Twitter that I saw that in their bulletin; it did not take long for St Tom’s website to get revamped, to loose the “Ken’s Kaleidoscope” article, in late May or their early June 2009 bulletin. I thought I had saved that bulletin, but I haven’t found it….YET.

But, I’m onto that Priest’s duplicity, and his Bishop’s complicity. And, I will pray for both of them.

I am all for folks being “included” and “respected.” I’m not that heartless. However, I refuse to buy into the Gay Deception that they have no need to repent and promote repentance.

I do not see anything but an organized Pity Party and normalization of their lifestyles at these encounters, with them. That’s bs!

No Gay Marriage is ever ok. It is an oxymoron to say such evil is good. And, on par with a valid and licit heterosexual Catholic Holy Matrimony.

And, no Catholic Marriage started out in fornication stands the Tests of Time, until both repent of said fornication, and they may need to get their marriage blest. Contact a priest you trust, to discuss this later point.

I am no expert on the particulars but it does not look to me, that they adhere to the Catholic Faith, they profess to believe in.

Pray for them all! Thanks.
