Dear Brother Bishops,
I greet all of you with affection in the Lord and I offer you my prayerful good wishes for a grace-filled pilgrimage ad limina Apostolorum. In the course of our meetings I have been reflecting with you and your Brother Bishops on the intellectual and cultural challenges of the new evangelization in the context of contemporary American society. In the present talk, I wish to address the question of religious education and the faith formation of the next generation of Catholics in your country.
Before all else, I would acknowledge the great progress that has been made in recent years in improving catechesis, reviewing texts and bringing them into conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Important efforts are also being made to preserve the great patrimony of America’s Catholic Elementary and High Schools, which have been deeply affected by changing demographics and increased costs, while at the same time ensuring that the education they provide remains within the reach of all families, whatever their financial status. As has often been mentioned in our meetings, these schools remain an essential resource for the new evangelization, and the significant contribution that they make to American society as a whole ought to be better appreciated and more generously supported.
On the level of higher education, many of you have pointed to a growing recognition on the part of Catholic colleges and universities of the need to reaffirm their distinctive identity in fidelity to their founding ideals and the Church’s mission in service of the Gospel. Yet much remains to be done, especially in such basic areas as compliance with the mandate laid down in Canon 812 for those who teach theological disciplines.
The importance of this canonical norm as a tangible expression of ecclesial communion and solidarity in the Church’s educational apostolate becomes all the more evident when we consider the confusion created by instances of apparent dissidence between some representatives of Catholic institutions and the Church’s pastoral leadership: such discord harms the Church’s witness and, as experience has shown, can easily be exploited to compromise her authority and her freedom.
It is no exaggeration to say that providing young people with a sound education in the faith represents the most urgent internal challenge facing the Catholic community in your country.
The deposit of faith is a priceless treasure which each generation must pass on to the next by winning hearts to Jesus Christ and shaping minds in the knowledge, understanding and love of His Church.

Tom Hanks Political Ad for Obama is 100% BS
Life is not a box of chocolates. A good family would not let their kids watch “Forrest Gump.” The sex scene of Gary Sinise getting sex in a wheelchair, would be sinful, to allow your kids, to watch. And, since it would not be appropriate to allow your kids to see it, it would also be a scandal, if you did allow them to see it.
All Tom Hanks movies have zero virtue to offer to kids. The virtues stuffed in it mean nothing if the sin in it, cancels out it’s fitness for a holy family : trying to stay that way.
Most of his movies are hook-up scenario anyways. Marriage does not seem to be the point; fornication is.
It is no surprise that Tom Hanks likes President Obama. His first television debut “Bosom Buddies” was about a man in drag, just to get a cheaper apartment. It was a Lesson in Stupidity 101. A television show about “dumbing down” of America. I saw past the all those jokes, to that real facts, of the normalization of depravity.
That sitcom “Bosom Buddies” introduced acceptance of transvestites, in main stream society. And, it resulted, in the trajectory and declination in morals. Sure the jokes were an easy excuse, to allow it, if it made a good point. However, your point was via the lyrics of the show’s theme song. Deep down the producer did not care about Holy Family viewing, during the Family Viewing time.
So I implemented a solution, demanded by your waywardness Mr. Hanks. The television was only brought off the shelf, when I knew a good children’s show was going to be on television. And, we were too poor to go to movies nor if we were rich, would we go to your dumb movies. You got rich off the loss of other people’s souls. And, now you think we give a damn what you think about politics? What nonsense!
FYI: I would not cross the street to shake your hand much less get your autograph. You are infamous in my eyes, Mr. Hanks and President Obama.
I got the only autograph I ever want in the Catholic Church’s 10 Commandments, Apostolic Letters, Encyclicals, Scripture, Dogma’s, Doctrines, Sacraments and Sacramentals.
As a direct result of seeing “Bosom Buddies” I put up our small television, in the 1980′s, refusing to let the likes of you Tom Hanks, to have an influence, on my sons. I also refused, to let my sons watch X-Men. I answer to God how I raised my sons, not the weird likes of President Obama or Mr. Tom Hanks.
I stand by that Bible verse, “Train them up, in they Way of the Lord, and they will come back, to it.” I know it’s someplace, in the Bible. I memorize Bible verses and apply them to life. Recalling chapter and verse is only applicable, if I am trying to reference it for others.
Most of my sons do not let their kids watch bad movies or tv shows. So that makes me happy.
One more thing Mr Hanks: I don’t care what you or Obama says, this is my life!” Obama’s Anti-Catholicism is nothing to praise. So shut up and tell the truth.
The glossed over Presidency of Obama, you’re gushing, Mr. Hanks is, in reality for us Catholics; a bald faced lie. So Tom, cut the crap! I don’t buy your lies!
Mr Hanks; your Obama ad is just plain bogus political propaganda. 100% Bullshit! Why should a good little Catholic Family listen to the likes of you or Obama?
If we see any more propaganda films about Obama in this coming year, we’re going to need a really good Manure Spreader.
Just think: It cost Jesus much pain and sorrow to die to save you from your public and private sins! Don’t let His Blood be shed in vain, for you and Pres. Obama.
And, about that Gay Marriage Crap and allowing Sodomy & Bestiality in the Military, think. God has already weighed in, on that Issue. Under the DEAD SEA, in the Sinai Dessert lies two cities called Sodom and Gomorra, destroyed by God with fire and brimstone. FYI. Obama’s fight is with God, and all people of good will.
We’re going to have to pray many rosaries, for Mr Hanks and the Obama’s. Mr Sinise too. Frankly, you all need it.
