Video Biography of Saint Luke – Feast Day Oct. 18 and Icons

NOTE: The Information in this video is not very accurate, and calls into question, traditional information by the Holy Fathers the Popes, down through the ages on Saint Luke’s history. I think it was Pope Pius XII that entrusted the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help to the Redemptorist Church, in Rome: saying “Make her known.” I trust the wisdom of the Popes before I would trust a priest. This solid faith is called the “Primacy of Peter.” St Peter was the 1st Pope. He held primacy of place, given to him by Jesus to lead the Catholic Church and the other Apostles.

This icon is in a Church seen over by the Redemptorist Order, in Rome. You will have to do your own homework on finding this Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, if you ever want to take a Pilgrimage to these Holy Destinations. Personally, if I was a millionaire, I would be flying off to holy sights, every day. But, every daily Mass is an awesome miracle of bread and wine, transubstantiated into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ for us, now. Mass is ‘Prayer Par Excellence” Lumen Gensium said. Lumen Gensium is a Vatican II Document on the Liturgy, I believe. My memory is a bit shaky today. I’ve been painting with Oil Based Paints, and I have a sinus headache, and even the dog and cat are sick.

Saint Luke, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit – interviewed the Blessed Virgin Mary, for the Infancy Narratives of Jesus’ life. He is the first saint to paint several Icons on Mary & Baby Jesus. Two very famous icons painted by Saint Luke are entitled: Mother of Perpetual Help, and Our Lady of Jazna Gora. [My spelling is not very good.] Our Lady of Jazna Gora was a painting by St Luke on a piece of wood from a table the Holy Family used, and made by Saint Joseph: the Foster-Father of Jesus.

<~ Our Lady of Częstochowa also known as Our Lady of Jazna Gora. Painted by Saint Luke.

This icon is now venerated, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Poland.

FYI: Catholics venerate a blessed icon or picture of Mary, Jesus or a Saint.  We do not worship a painting, even after it has been blessed by a priest or deacon and is a Sacramental.

Worship: Belongs to God, alone.

Let us pray: “Our Lady of Jazna Gora, Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Pray for us. Thank you. Amen. “

In My Humble Opinion and in the Opinion of the  Catholic Church, I am going to need all the graces and prayers of the saints; on earth and in heaven to make it, to heaven. We pray for each other, while here on earth. Saints pray for us, to God, on our behalf when we ask them to, and even when we do not ask them to. They pray without ceasing to the Lord  Our  God. This is the doctrine of the Communion of Saints: all the faithful on earth, in purgatory and in heaven, praying for each other. I think that is so cool. The solidarity and love of the faithful for each other’s goal of getting to heaven. It is a great ” act of love’ to pray for one  another, in love, not for selfishish reasons.

I am thankful, to have been born into a Catholic Family. It is the True Church Jesus founded, on the Rock of Peter and the Cornerstone, Jesus.

Gosh I didn’t know Saint Luke painted so many icons. He was a painter, doctor [patron of doctors] and was an Evangelist. Here is a website I found of all the Icons painted by Saint Luke. Boy oh boy, you learn something new everyday!

AWESOME! Here is that website: “St. Luke’s Images of St. Mary: A catalog of images held to have been created by St. Luke the Evangelist.

Let us pray: “St Luke pray for us, now and at the hour of our death.  PS. I hope you have a great day in heaven, today, St Luke. Give Jesus and Mary a kiss for me. Thanks. “
